I've found that for me, December always ends up being the most jampacked yet unproductive time of the year.
Not that that's a bad thing! Honestly it might have something to do with living in the Southern Hemisphere; you basically end up getting a double layered cake of Chrismas and the summer festivities on your table. Even in spite of how shitty this year has generally been, its nice to have this time of the year to act as some sort of a reprive.
I've also been pretty busy travelling these past 2 weeks! Mainly it's been checking out the sights of the great city of Sydney, which makes my hometown seem unintresting in comparison, though it also involved taking an 11 hour trip to go see a couple of pals on the geographic edge of the continent. Honestly the entire experience was better than expected! One small thing is that the forests along the railway had such a vibrant green to them; the shade was way warmer in comparison to the cooler vibrant shades of jade or emerald you'd find back in Aotearoa. And then those shades paired with the vermillion soil and clear blue sky? Mwhah!
Not to say I'd do that trip regularly though. Spending half a day having to over hear some Aussie blokes talking about "the kids these days," or how they're "not allowed to say things anymore," while trying to keep yourself entertained wasn't that great. Despite that though, as well as the lack of mobile coverage along the journey, I did manage to occupy my time reading and whatnot (Thank you Anne Rice!) Other than that, the destination was also beatiful itself. Got to see a bunch of pretty coastlines and silly creatures during my stay.
Currently I'm back in Sydney, sitting in an airconned library, sheltering myself from a heatwave. Been reading Akira, Playing Cyberpunk, and waiting to go see the new Avatar. Been trying to figure out a composition for a piece of Pluribus fanart, but I'll see if I can get that out before the finale drops next week. Other than that, I do hope that whoever reading this has at least a decent end of year. See y'all in 2026!
So, the new version of the website is up! Honestly didn't take that long to do, which was nice. I do still wanna possibly add some things, like a side bar for the socials? A pezzazing of the page backgrounds perchance? And obviously more interactives and secrets, cos I do want to see what I can do with HTML and CSS. Also I hope that just having this blog part of website be on just one page doesn't come to bite me back in the ass sometime in the far off future...
Anyways, enough about the website, what about my plans for the summer holidays? Well now that I'm not swamped with hair pulling assignments, I definetly want to take the oppotunity to catch up on a bunch of movies i missed out on this year (Sinners, The Phoenician Scheme, One Battle After Another, that last Mission Impossible) plus a bunch on my watchlist. Guess also play a bunch of game in my Steam Library as well. Like I'm pretty sure I bought the Witcher 3 years ago when it was on sale for like 7 dollars, and I still haven't had the chance to play it...
In terms of the art I want to do, I do have a couple of WIP sketches that I want to work on, like this one that's a Homestuck pastiche of Ivan the Terrible and his Son. Also want to do a piece for Pluribus, cos that show so far has been super amazing (Bravo Vince)! On a more broader scale, actually creating something cohesive out of my Telefax and Elf World concepts (which you can find listed on the projects page) is definetly a big goal I want to achive over the next couple of months. I have been thinking of doing like a quick MS Paint Adventure in that setting, both to figure it out, as well as get soem art practice in.
As for Telefax, I've actually felt inspired to do something that isn't strictly a vague webcomic/animation idea, after watching a recent video by Super Eyepatch Wolf, the one about fake video games. Man what a cool video... anyhoo, it really made me want to do something in that veign of unfiction. Maybe like a lost point and click game from the early 2000s in the style of the early Gorillaz website would be cool? Honestly something styling itself after obsure early internet media could be taken in a myriad of ways... definetly something I'll have time to ruminate on during my trip to the hair stylist! Guess I'll wrap up this first blog post now, toodeloo!
